"Body Cross"
The end of the XVIIth and the beginning of the XVIIIth century.
Provenance: Place of discovery unknown.
Size: 44x24 mm
Technique & Material: Copper, casting.
Description: Four-ended cross with prominent arcs in the middle-cross and curly ends. On the front side placed embossing eight-ended cross of Calvary with spear, with cane and with head of Adam in the cave. At the upper end of the cross there is monogram ЦРЬ СВЫ (King of Glory) in the two lines below the titleys. On the lateral endings – monograms ИС and ХС below the titleys. Below the Calvary - Monogram МЛРБ (Place of execution Paradise rapid) in the two lines below titleys.
The "cross-head" looks like flat abalone.
Analogy. Not identified. A characteristic set of monograms on the cross and the Baroque form of its extremities allow us to date the monument to the end XVII-XIX centuries.
